Like its partner, the figurine exhibits seemingly playful gestures and courtly attire reminiscent of the 18th-century Rococo style which placed an emphasis on the carefree and romantic life of the aristocracy. Pieces such as this would have been admired by ladies of the era and presented in their homes on fireplace mantels or tea tables. The only such example recovered from the site suggests this unique treasure was a passenger’s personal belonging. The original figurine is on display in Odyssey’s traveling exhibit and will remain in the company’s permanent artifact collection.
