It original color is beautifully preserved despite nearly 140 years at the bottom of the Atlantic. The only such piece recovered from the SS Republic shipwreck site suggests this rare treasure was a passenger’s personal keepsake, and was not shipped among the larger cargo of trade goods.
The original vase is on display in Odyssey’s traveling exhibit and will remain in the company’s permanent artifact collection.
